Red Wood on My Fire Escape
Words and music © Mike Rimbaud
I planted Red Wood tree on my fire escape
The Empire state building’s rival
Walked my bicycle and rode the dog.
It’s a pipe dream wrapped in a wish
Last night I met a girl named Day
A ship will arrive with her name on it
Buried treasure under her shadow
It’s a pipe dream wrapped in a wish
There’s Red Wood on my fire escape
A giant waiting on a rain cloud
In an emergency, Id rather climb a tree
Than go down
Jack had his bean stalk, now I’ve got mine
A golden pigeon is eating crumbs below
Mouse lives in a hole, not in my hand
It’s a pipe dream wrapped in a wish
When a movie’s bad, I walk out
If I chopped down my tree would anyone notice
But, my life is not an open book
It’s a pipe dream wrapped in a wish
The Red wood on my fire escape
Coming back from where I never was
The Red wood on my fire escape
Hot Chilli peppers might have been better
Na, na, na, na, na…
